The last thing we want is for them to charge us some ungodly amount. After horrendous service and no receipt to sign, we were not happy. We eventually received more drinks, but after a ridiculous amount of time. After the second push, someone showed up after 20 minutes. The first time no one came, hence the second time.

Twice during the movie we pressed the call button to ask for more drinks. 15 minutes into the movie a server appeared, took our order and returned 45 minutes later with our food. We went in, found our seats, and the movie started.

On my birthday in 2015 we had a snow day (as we are both teachers) and chose to use my free ticket. However, as being a sapphire member (free membership as the theater was new) members receive a free birthday ticket. This time we decided that we would not be returning. Wanting to give the theater another try, we went back. My wife and I didn’t complain, as we had a gift card and again, felt kinks were still being worked out. Service, again was slow, average wait of 20-25 minutes before a server appeared after pushing the call button. Again, no free popcorn (at the time, I didn’t know premium seats came with free popcorn). My wife and I returned to use the rest of the gift card. We still had money left on the gift card a vowed to give the place another shot. The first time no one received their free popcorn and service was slow. You could tell they were still working out the kinks of a newly opened establishment. At the time, I thought our first experience was nice, the seats are flashy, comfortable, and the blanket and pillow are a nice touch. When the iPic first opened, I was lucky enough to win a $100 gift card from Pike & Rose to the iPic. I am willing to pay the price of a movie ticket here and the price of the food (as they are both way above any similar establishment) to receive quality service DURING a movie, however that is far from what has happened anytime I have visited. For those that don’t want to read the entire review, here is the short version: The advertised experience is not what customers are receiving. I love the idea behind it, but in all honesty, I have not had a single good experience here. I want to love it so much, I have seen six movies here (Interstellar, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, Into the Woods, Selma, Pitch Perfect 2, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ). Due to the expense, this is definitely a special occasion theater, though, and be sure to spring for premium seating to avoid being very close to the screen.I really, really want to love the iPic. It was great having a reserved seat and not being crammed in with hundreds of other guests, kids kicking seats, or people talking/messing with their cell phones. Overall, I liked the premium movie experience. It is worth it to book the premium seats. It's hard to tell from the seating chart exactly how the seats are spaced in the theater, but sitting in the standard seats is like sitting in the first few rows at a normal theater.

The seats themselves were quite comfortable and wide, but they were far too close to the screen for a good movie watching experience. In retrospect, choosing the standard seats was a bit of a mistake.

The deluxe seats recline, include a pillow and blanket (the theater was quite warm, so a blanket would have been rather unnecessary), and are serviced by a wait staff. We opted for the standard seats, which are $14 each. They are large, comfortable, and wrapped with leather. The picture was good, but it was not any better than what you would see at any other theater. The movie theater itself is actually very similar to standard theaters in terms of screen size, projection, and sound quality. There's a bar and some form of food service, but we skipped this as we already ate. The decor looks as if it could be from an upscale hotel in Las Vegas.

The iPic offers a distinct upscale experience that's several steps above a standard movie theater. We decided to try the new iPic theater in North Bethesda.
